On fast glance you may wonder why this post is full of the same drawing, but on closer inspection you will see small changes and tweaks – almost like Spot the Difference! The first rough sketch below shows the children’s house – we decided to work out the look, feel, colours, and materials for this house first, before applying the same rules to the other houses in the village.
Aside from being the ‘template’ house for the others, the children’s house is important to the story, so our layout of the windows and doors was crucial. We wanted to make the house small and cosy from the outside – it’s function being the ‘safe haven’ from the Beastie.
Once we had decided on the layout, the details and the scale the concept art was handed over to Jon and the CG modelling team who started to build the house – first the main blocks; all the way to the small details.
